The shelter currently houses around 70 cats just waiting on there forever homes and is at max capacity as of Summer 2026. Unlike many shelters, the cats live in open rooms with cat trees, climbing areas, and screened outdoor access.
There are no cages or kennels — just a comfortable, social environment while the cats wait for permanent homes.

What makes the shelter special are two of the co-directors, Melissa and Tim Bemiller.
This is not just a job for them. Their passion for animals is obvious, and they genuinely care about every cat in the facility. They take time to learn each cat’s personality and focus on finding the right fit for adopters.
How Adoption Works
Visits are by appointment only. The shelter encourages meet-and-greets and multiple visits before adoption. No same-day adoptions are allowed.
Each cat has a profile explaining their personality and temperament.
The shelter also encourages volunteers to spend time playing with, socializing, and even reading to the cats. Volunteers focus mainly on interaction and enrichment rather than cleanup duties.
